About Us
- The Lillian Smith Center For Youth Development (formerly known as the Peoples’ Organization of Robbins) was launched in 1972 by community leaders of Robbins, Illinois.
- Our organization was headed by Lillian Smith as the POR until her passing in 2004. The organization was incorporated in January of 2006 as the Lillian Smith Center for Youth Development to pay tribute to our departed leader.
- Dedication to our cause is imperative due to a lack of financial benefits as well as inadequate resources.
- Volunteerism is another vital component of our program seeing as without the generous contribution of time and effort our program would not be successful. We owe a great deal of gratitude to our selfless philanthropist and donors in addition.
- Monday thru Friday during the hours of 2:30 – 5:00 P.M. the Lillian Smith Center for Youth Development services (How many Children?) youths ranging from ages 5- 20 years old.
- The Lillian Smith Center for Youth Development operates our after school program year-round.
- The Lillian Smith CYD stresses the importance of maintaining a high academic standing as well as a positive attitude as demonstrated in one of our many mottos: A+A=A (Academics + Attitude = Awards)
